I am the President and Senior Partner of Tauber Law Offices. I have been practicing law for almost 40 years, and I cannot imagine doing anything else. I love what I do.

Over the course of my legal career, I have handled many complex cases for clients in various areas of the law. I have significant experience with personal injury litigation, probate and estate planning, corporate law, municipal law, real estate, business transactions, and general civil litigation.

I have also represented the Town of Highland and the School Town of Highland for over approximately 40 years, and I have significant ties to the community. Early in my career, I was involved in the landmark case of Doe vs. Renfrow while representing the School Town of Highland, which I successfully argued before the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. This case continues to be recognized as legal precedent today.

Despite my dedication and love for the law, the center of my world is now the gift of my nine grandchildren. I am also very proud of the accomplishment of forming these very law offices with my children.

I am a 1971 graduate of Valparaiso University with a B.A. in Government and Spanish. I went on to receive my J.D. at Valparaiso University School of Law in 1974, graduating magna cum laude.

Upon receiving my J.D., I joined the American Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Four years later, I was admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals 7th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court in 1981. I was born in Hammond, Indiana, and graduated from Highland High School in 1967. I am the proud father of four children: Tara, Justin, Brandon, and Jared, and grandfather of nine. I enjoy traveling with my wife of over 40 years, and I am also an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Cubs.

I am a Partner at Tauber Law Offices, and the formation of these law offices has been one of my largest achievements — second only to becoming a mother.

Since adopting a daughter, it is no surprise that adoption has become a large part of my law practice. I take great pride in being able to share the joy of my own experience with others. I handle private adoptions, adoptions from the Department of Child Services, step-parent adoptions, agency adoptions, and adult adoptions. I can easily relate to the needs of adoptive parents, and they appreciate the counsel of one who has gone through the process. I am a strong advocate for adoptive families and, at the same time, I have the utmost respect and admiration for birth mothers.

My practice also consists of Personal Injury, Family and Juvenile Law, School Law, Estate Planning, Probate, Civil Litigation, and Real Estate. My teaching background and general love of children drive me to remain focused on preserving the best interests of the children involved in my cases.

I was born in Hammond, Indiana, and graduated in 1993 from Highland High School. In 1997, I graduated magna cum laude from Valparaiso University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I went on to teach at Washington Elementary in East Chicago and Homan Elementary School in Schererville. After six years of teaching, I gave in to my desire to practice law and attended Valparaiso University School of Law, where I received my J.D. in 2006.

I am admitted to practice law before the U.S. Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. I also am a member of the Indiana Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Indiana School Board Association, the Indiana Council of School Attorneys, and the Council of School Attorneys.

Although I lived in Highland for almost 30 years, I now reside in Crown Point, Indiana, with my husband, Doug, daughter, Kennedy, and stepdaughter, Caroline. Traveling is one of my favorite past times, and while at home, I can frequently be found outside in my garden. I treasure spending time with my family and making my children smile.

As a Partner at Tauber Law Offices, Jared represents individuals and corporations with a wide array of legal services. Over the course of his first 17 years in practice, he has handled over $250M in real estate and business transactions, both residential and commercial. He has had the pleasure to represent some of the biggest commercial developers and operators in Northwest Indiana. He has also handled some of the firm’s biggest personal injury cases and became a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum in 2015, an exclusive membership for attorneys who have settled multi-million dollar injury cases.

Jared has expanded his expertise to include liquor license laws and handling of permits in Indiana. He is one of a few attorneys in Lake County that handles the renewal and transfer of liquor licenses. His expertise has allowed him to represent several bars and restaurants in Lake County.

On a personal level, Jared was born in Lake County and graduated from Highland High School in 2000. He attended Indiana University in Bloomington where he received a business degree from the Kelley School of Business. Jared then obtained his law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law on a full tuition scholarship. Jared is married to his wife, Julie, and they welcomed twins to their family in 2017. When Jared is away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his family and following his favorite sports teams.

Tim Kelly is a 1972 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. Since 1973 Tim has actively engaged in personal injury, commercial and contract litigation. He has practiced in the State and Federal Courts in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, and Tennessee. He has successfully completed over 300 jury trials. Tim enjoys an “AV” rating in Martindale Hubbell, and is listed in the Bar Register, a listing of preeminent lawyers in the United States, Canada, and other countries. Tim is an active member of the American Association for Justice, American Association of Motorcycle Injury Lawyers, ABATE, and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.
