For more than 50 years, Rhett Tauber has dedicated his career to representing individuals, families, businesses and public entities throughout Northwest Indiana. As President and Senior Partner of Tauber Law Offices, he has built a distinguished practice grounded in experience, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the clients and communities he serves.



Throughout his career, he has handled a wide range of complex legal matters, with substantial experience in personal injury litigation, probate and estate planning, municipal law, real estate, business transactions, corporate law, and general civil litigation. His decades of practice have given him the opportunity to represent clients in matters ranging from significant personal injury claims to sophisticated business and governmental issues.

His connection to the Northwest Indiana community extends well beyond his private practice. For decades, he represented the Town of Highland and the School Town of Highland, developing a deep understanding of municipal and public-sector law. Early in his career, while representing the School Town of Highland, he was involved in the landmark case of Doe v. Renfrow. The decision was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and continues to be cited in cases involving constitutional issues in the public-school setting.

A native of Gary, Indiana, he graduated from Highland High School in 1967 before attending Valparaiso University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government and Spanish in 1971, where he was also a member of the men’s basketball team. He went on to earn his J.D. from Valparaiso University school of Law in 1974, graduating magna cum laude. 

During his distinguished legal career, he has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also been active in numerous local, state and national professional organizations, and previously served as President of the Northwest Indiana Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

His professional accomplishments include receiving an AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, recognition as a Distinguished Barrister for Leadership in Law from The Indiana Lawyer, and membership in the million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. 

Despite a legal career spanning more than half a century, his greatest source of pride remains his family. He is the proud father of four children and grandfather to nine grandchildren. He and his wife, Sue, have been married for more than 50 years and enjoy traveling together. He is also especially proud to have built Tauber Law Offices alongside his children and to see the firm continue as a family practice serving the community in which they were all raised.

Outside of the office, he remains an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Cubs.
